The 17th running of the Great Northwest Nationals kicked off today at the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center and the Northwest hot rodders rejoiced in the return. Hundreds of hot rods and classics quickly rolled through the gates this morning and in just a few hours the event was boomin’!
Plenty of grassy areas lined with trees were available providing shade throughout the day for those early arrivals. We also sectioned off a spot for our featured car club of the weekend – the Hassie Auto Club (Historical Auto Society of Spokane & Inland Empire) which was established in 1958 and they brought out a fleet of cool rides ranging from a ’35 Auburn to a ’71 Pantera!
The indoor show in Spokane is always a biggin’ with four buildings all interconnected. Close to 100 hot rods, customs, muscle cars and pickups were on display including some fresh builds like Lee Badger’s 1973 AMC Javelin built by River City Speed & Kustom and Tad Leach’s Kindig-it built 1958 Lincoln.
Three Nitro Thunderfest drag cars fired off today and will be coming back for two more sessions tomorrow and we’ve also added the popular Burnout Contest to this year’s event schedule which will take place tomorrow just after noon. We also have the Goodgals Gallery, Kids Area, Model & Pedal Car Show, Swap Meet & Cars for Sale Corral, industry-leading Vendors and a jammin’ Brush Bash – if you’re in the area you’ll want to head over and check it out for yourself!
