This has been a milestone Friday here at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina, as Goodguys celebrates a quarter century of fun at one of our most popular events – the Southeastern Nationals!
Yes, right-coast rodders have been flocking to the infield of this storied oval track for 25 years now, and there’s no sign of letting off the gas for 2018. We kicked things off in fine fashion yesterday with our popular poker run, which took in sights at a variety of shops around nearby Moorsesville before venturing down to Fatman Fabrications in Mint Hill for a fun afternoon kickoff party.
We woke to a picture-perfect autumn day this morning and watched as rodders rolled through the CMS entry tunnel for a fun day in the sun. The sound of American V8 power filled the crisp air as Goodguys from all over the region found their spots in the infield and got their rides wiped down and shined up. A full house of vendors had plenty of wares on display, AutoCrossers were tearing up the cone-filled course, and bargains were being uncovered over in the swap meet. We even had a Nitro Thunderfest exhibition to add a little noise to the afternoon.
With a new two-day format for this year, we’re packing plenty of action and activity into just Friday and Saturday. We’ll be selecting award winners, making smoke at the Burnout Competition, hosting the Tar Heel Throwdown on the AutoCross course, and hitting the high-banked oval tomorrow for what is sure to be a spectacular Saturday. So, hold on tight – the next 24 hours is going to be full-throttle fun!
