Puyallup! The town with the funny name known worldwide for its cultivation of daffodils has turned into hot rod heaven the last 30 years during the last weekend of July. The Goodguys 30th Pacific Northwest Nationals is off to a rip roarin’ start here at the Washington State Fair Events Center.
During today’s sun-soaked action, the entire facility filled up with the Northwest and Western Canada’s finest vintage rods, customs and muscle cars. What makes this event so unique is that it’s our one chance a year to see the cool cars from this region. Some of the big guns with budgets to travel show up elsewhere on tour but we would guess 80% of the cars entered here in Puyallup are unique to this event with minimal crossover at the upcoming Great Northwest Nationals in Spokane.
Things got rolling last night with the Kickoff Party and Poker Run but today’s action pegged the fun meter as it always does. The best of both worlds is on tap here for fans this weekend. Joining over 2,500 1972 & earlier show cars is the spectacular indoor car show inside the giant MattressFirm Showplex and the incredible Brush Bash pin striper’s exhibit, not to mention all of the outdoor and indoor vendor exhibits, swap meet and more.
Today was open parking but tomorrow we will feature the special parking areas headlines by the Morrison Builder’s Choice parking. The best of the best will be on display out there in Sillyville so if you’re coming tomorrow, and we know you are, head out to Sillyville to see the elite iron and other cool areas.
We’re off to tonight’s Friday Night Drags to cover the nitro burning, flame-belching action! Visit www.fuelcurve.com Tuesday for that spectacular event coverage! Enjoy today’s scenery from the majestic Northwest!
