Saturday May 13th – We rolled out of Show Low, AZ this morning to kick off Day 2 of the Music City Road Tour. Unlike yesterday’s itinerary which was packed with multiple stops throughout the Phoenix area, today was all about driving! We had two stops along the way but the highlight was the Southeastern drive through the Gila National Forest in New Mexico.

The 150-mile trot down the windy two-lane highway with multiple switchbacks and rolling hills made for a fun, relaxing and laid back drive. Before we hit the open road, we stopped first thing this morning at Show Low Rod Shop just a few miles from last night’s hotel stay. The neat ma & pop shop tucked down a dirt road is owned and operated by Joe & Megan Blendowski and had some awesome builds in progress. When you’re that far away from the big cities you need to either know, or learn, how to do it all. From fab work to body and paint, Joe and his small team handle every aspect of a build and are doing a killer job at it!

Once we loaded up on coffee and donuts at Show Low we cruised over to Springerville Auto and checked out a huge junk yard filled with hidden gems. It’s always funny to see these guys and gals cruising their beautiful hot rods still get so excited about rusty and rotted parts and pieces. It was a pickers dream!

Once we arrived at tonight’s destination we all saddled up for a tasty Mexican food dinner together and capped off Day 2 before hitting the sack fat & happy. The beautiful trek from Springerville Auto to tonight’s stay was worth the trip alone, but we have more amazing scenery ahead of us in the next few days that we can’t wait to check out.

We’re off bright and early tomorrow morning to head further east as we venture towards Nashville. We’ll kick off the morning with a group Breakfast to celebrate Mothers Day and then hit the road covering 360 miles in total. Follow along with us on our Instagram page throughout the day by searching and following @goodguysrodandcustom – we’ll check back this time tomorrow evening with the Day 3 recap, stay tuned!
