Divers Street Rods in tiny Startup, Washington has been known for big things over the years. Led by Tim Divers, he and his craftsmen have built Ridler winners, Goodguys award winners and can always be relied upon to come up with something completely out of the box on occasion.

Their latest project, Mike and JoAnn Walker’s vibrant green 1972 VW bus has been turning heads in import circles. Powered by a turbocharged 400 horsepower Subaru WRX flat four engine, the “VWRX” combines Japanese performance with an iconic 1970s era hippie van, and lots of good old fashioned American hot rod techniques! In addition to the motor, the rear suspension was taken from the WRX donor car while the front suspension is Mustang II with an Art Morrison clip. It rolls on Rota G-Force 18×8.5 wheels shod in Pirelli P-Zero rubber.

The steel body has been heavily massaged with sucked in bumpers, custom grille treatment, flush fit glass and a roll back top. The brilliant green is a custom House of Kolor mix. Inside the cabin you’ll find a Subaru STI dash as well as a full custom interior by Divers.

The best news? VWRX will make its official debut at the Goodguys 15th Meguiar’s Del Mar Nationals April 10-12! It will be featured inside the Pat O’Brien Hall throughout the weekend.

Don’t miss this way cool custom van!
