If you like cool cars and vintage drag racing, the Goodguys Nostalgia Nationals in Bowling Green, Kentucky was the place to be this weekend. For three days, the Kentucky countryside was decorated with classic, custom and vintage iron, and punctuated by quarter-mile blasts of drag cars – everything from hot rod class to exhibition Nostalgia Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars.

With sportsman classes smoking tires as well as class racing by the NDRL, the drag menu was stacked! In addition to the Fuelers and Funny Cars, the legendary Nanook and Rat Trap Fuel Altereds also battled it out in side-by-side action. Class winners included Gordon Horn (7.0 Pro), Darrell Wathen (7.50 Eliminator), Tommy Cook (Pro Comp), Rob Davis (Pro Gas), Rob Davis (Street Machine) and Kendall Gillespie (Hot Rod Eliminator).

The AutoCross was throwing cones all weekend, with a strong group of competitors duking it out for the quickest time through the course. When the dust settled, rockin’ Rob MacGregor came out on the top of the heap with the lowest time and a coveted spot in the Scottsdale Shootout.

Jesse Greening of Greening Auto Company was the celebrated Builder’s Choice judge for the weekend and plucked ten prime rides for his custom-made awards. We also found a rare Chevelle for a 2018 Muscle Car of the Year finalist, and a laundry list of other noteworthy cars for awards. Bowling Green’s accommodating nightlife and hotels combined with Beech Bend Raceway’s amazing facility for a weekend to remember. Take a look at the photos and we’re sure you’ll agree.
