Goodguys was welcomed back to California to the event that started it all – the 35th running of the All American Get-Together AutoCross! Over 70 gear- jammin’ speed junkies flooded the pits at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds to test their skills by weaving through the cones on the tight track. The PRO and the Truck class had their fair share of leaderboard swaps but the real drama was in the Street Machine class which was filled with 65 American-powered rides all gunning for the top spot. The weather looked iffy during the week leading up to the event but the wet stuff held off giving us two full days of racing action with no delays. The weather was cool, the action was hot, and we’re now shifting gears for the Del Mar Nationals this coming weekend, which always brings out the big guns!

Five drivers battled it out in the PRO class with East Bay heavy-hitters Mike Maier and Brian Hobaugh throwing most of the punches. Hobaugh sat atop the leader board with his ’65 Corvette most of the weekend but Maier nipped him towards the end of Sunday’s action to claim the top spot and drop the hammer with the only sub 60-second lap time of the weekend. Casey Cronin and Curt Hill battled it out for third place while Craig Watts’ crowd favorite ’33 Ford rounded out fifth place.

The top five Street Machine spots consisted of an LS-powered Datsun 240z, C3 Corvette, first-gen Nova, late model GTO and a Factory Five Cobra.
